Request An Appointment

  • A 15 minute virtual chat with Dr. Oristano designed to help answer questions and chat before your first visit. This is the best way to get in touch and avoid playing telephone tag. No therapeutic, medical, or consulting advice will be given during this call. This call is required for new counseling clients to get access to the portal and be approved prior to starting. (FREE)

  • An initial consultation for patients who are interested in Chinese Medicine treatment. Sessions may include acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and other nourishing techniques. Curiosity calls are optional for this service. ($130)

  • Acupuncture and other Chinese Medicine treatment follow-ups for established patients. ($100)

  • A quick, reinvigorating 30 minute session! Cupping only, no acupuncture. ($60)

  • Virtual and In-Person psychotherapy for individuals age 16 and up. Specialties include sexuality and gender, personal identity embodiment, spiritual and life transitions, and building community. LGBTQIA+, Kink/BDSM/Leather, Poly/ENM affirming and experienced. Clients may attend therapy weekly, every other week, or monthly depending on their needs. Therapeutic styles include DBT, CBT, and IFS, with an emphasis on flexibility and collaboration. A Curiosity Call is required to gain access to this service. ($150)

    When available, limited sliding scale spaces priced at $90 or $120 per session are reserved exclusively for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients in need. Please be mindful and honest regarding your financial situation when requesting a sliding scale spot, as this option is intended for those truly in need of accessible therapy. If you have family financial support, are using HSA/FSA, or are requesting a superbill to bill insurance, then you will be required to pay the full fee.

    Sliding scale is only available for clients who consistently attend therapy at least twice per month.

  • In person and virtual couples counseling. Sliding scale is not available for couples counseling, however I can provide you a superbill if needed. A Curiosity Call is required to gain access to this service. ($200)

  • Coaching for eclectic, nerdy, witchy, and otherwise non-traditional folks. Offerings include guidance around life transitions, designing self-care rituals, organization and goal setting, navigating relationships, career changes, and more. Available virtually anywhere in the world!

  • Consulting services for professional colleagues and anyone else who wishes to pick Dr. Oristano's brain on topics such as integrative mental health, career, Chinese Medicine, and sexuality and gender.

  • Dr. Oristano is available for private workshops and educational services with regard to her areas of expertise. Please email admin@thornbackacupuncture.com to discuss.

COVID-19 Practice Policies

  • All patients will be required to complete a COVID19 screening and liability waiver.

  • As of Spring 2025, masks are optional for clients with up-do-date vaccines. Dr. Oristano will continue to be masked at this time. For acupuncture, please wear or bring loosely fitted, 2-piece clothing items for ease of treatment. Draping materials will be provided if needed.

  • Hand sanitizer and powder room sinks are available for hand sanitizing.

  • Surfaces will be disinfected with Cavicide and the room will be aired out and filtered between patients. Please be mindful of your appointment time to allow Dr. Oristano the necessary space to make her office safer for you and for others.

  • All new patients will be required to schedule in advance, provide credit card information, and fill out paperwork digitally BEFORE their appointment. No walk-ins of any kind are permitted.

  • If you have a fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of taste or smell, or any signs of respiratory illness, please you stay home and wait two weeks from the initial symptoms to schedule. If you have been exposed to someone who is ill or has tested positive for COVID-19, or if you have been around people outside of your pod without wearing your mask, please wait at least two weeks before making an appointment.
